Our ratios are relating to staff to children. Usually there will be volunteers and students who provide additional valuable help.
Ratios depend on the needs of the children at any one time. In the Small Playroom, ratios will not exceed 1 adult: 2 children and are often better than this. In the Main Playroom, ratios will not exceed 1 adult to 3 children.
Our committee recognise the importance of on-going training and all staff are able to access training every year. All staff are trained to Induction Level in Somerset Total Communication, most are trained to Level 2.
Staff have specialist training in physiotherapy skills (Bobath training), speech and language skills (Derbyshire Language Course), Autism, working with children with Down’s Syndrome, Picture Exchange Communication System, T.E.A.C.C.H.. This year, Sue is attending training for the MOVE programme.
Additionally all staff receive First Aid training, Child Protection training, training on Early Years Foundation Stage framework as well as training offered locally by Somerset County Council.
